Volunteering with ETVCU
Being a part of a team is more than just attending monthly meetings or mandatory events. Instead, it is about bonding and supporting people with similar interests. Attending college at an urban university may pose as a culture shock for incoming rural students. However, we try to make the transition to VCU as smooth as possible by allowing our students to bond outside of the barn and school by donating their quality time to the community by volunteering. Featured below are a few of the volunteer events you can be involved with only as a member of the ETVCU.

United States Equine Rescue League
|
The United States Equine Rescue League (USERL) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the compassionate care of equines. Their mission is to save, protect, and rehabilitate equines in need and educate horse owners and the public about proper equine care, and the problems of neglect, abuse, and slaughter. We as members of ETVCU volunteer our time on Saturday mornings to assist this volunteer run organization with feeding, grooming, and cleaning up around the barn.

Interscholastic Equestrian Association
|
The Interscholastic Equestrian Association (IEA) is a non-profit organization that introduces students in private and public middle and secondary schools (primarily ages 11 through 19) to equestrian sports. Stillmeadows Farm hosts IEA shows for students in the Richmond area throughout the school year. As ETVCU members, we can volunteer our time to this organization by assisting with their horse shows by tacking up, grooming, and handling the horses while the students focus on riding.
